Enriching the Lives of Others

The Adventure Begins...
"I'd like to move back to Bend, and attend Bend Community College. I'll live with (friends from MBA) and we'll keep each other from trouble. No one understands our challenges like we do. We'll use our skills to keep eachother sober. When we need to, we'll call the counselors at MBA. We can run up to MBA to see our mentors. It'll work."
Aaron Meyer, April, 2005

Student-Resident Scott organized a group of MATC students on a project to install and maintain wood duck houses at the UW Arboretum in Madison, April 2008. Scott is shown here admiring their work.

Healthy recovery includes keeping physically fit. Aaron's House received six stations of exercise equipment from Healthy Inspirations in Madison in April '08. The equipment is available for the Student-Residents and their guests. A key component of Aaron's House is welcoming sober peers to the home for healthy activities.
Aaron's House opened on August 13, 2007 one block from the shore of Lake Mendota and close to the UW, MATC, Edgewood College, and many other educational institutions. We are blessed by generous people who shared expertise, money, creativity, encouragement, and vision.
Under the guidance of John Blaha, the House-Mentor, and James Sauer, the Clinical Director, Student-Residents are on the journey of their young lives. The Aaron House program builds on: Recovery, Personal Growth, Education, and Employment.
Sometimes we lead, sometimes we are led, but always we men are shoulder to shoulder.
Aaron's House is an alcohol and drug free home where young men live in support of one another while continuing their post high school education with leadership from role models who care, and recovery professionals who make a difference.
A clinical support program is in place to guide the Student-Residents. Living at the Aaron House challenges the Student-Residents to change more than their address.
