Wednesday November 25th at the High Noon Saloon, “Pie For Dinner”, will combine music and comedy to bring in Thanksgiving. Several charity raffles throughout the evening will benefit The Chris Farley Foundation. Raffle tickets will be included with admission, and prizes will include Packer tickets, Badger tickets, CD’s, books and clothes. The show will bring in the holiday with nationally headlining hip-hop act, The CREST, and comedian Nate Craig. Versatile turntablist, DJ Vilas Park Sniper, will spin everything from dancehall reggae, to classic rock throughout the evening. All of the acts are local products that have garnered national acclaim. The show gives them a chance to raise money for one of Madison’s finest charities.
The show will be headlined by, The CREST. Jack Cracker and AD, make up the prolific duo that was formed in 1997. The CREST have been performing live for over 10 years. Having independently produced 16 albums, they just released their second national album this past summer 'Cheerful Robots'. The two rappers are brothers, and their live show benefits greatly from their common energy. “Sharp and feisty, flowing and barking their way through the verses, getting in the crowd's faces”, proclaimed an Onion AV club description of a recent CREST performance. At “Pie For Dinner”, expect more of the same.
Comedian Nate Craig will start off the show with an hour of stand-up comedy. The ten year full-time comedian got his start in Madison and now returns home from Los Angeles where he lives. His relationship with The Chris Farley Foundation began when foundation director, Tom Farley, asked him to perform at “Comics Come Home”, at the Union Theater in 2004. Fresh off an appearance on the internationally syndicated Bob & Tom Radio and television program, Nate is enjoying national recognition. Not only has he performed at HBO’s Las Vegas Comedy Festival, he’s also written for Public Radio International’s “Prairie Home Companion”, with Garrison Kielor, and tours nationally, full-time.
The entire night will be accompanied by, Madison’s finest club DJ and turntablist, DJ Vilas Park Sniper. VPS is one of Madison’s most requested DJs. He has been spinning records throughout the Midwest for over 10 years, and currently has weekly gigs at several of Madison’s finest venues. His style of party-rocking and turntablism is unique to Madison and his resume speaks for itself, opening for the likes of Nas, Talib Kweli, Zion I and Wale.
“Pie For Dinner” is intended to be a celebration of a great holiday, a great town and a great venue, with a charitable spirit. The show will be versatile with non-stop energy. The acts are strong and the raffle prizes are awesome. It will surely be the first annual.
